The OSPREY TALON 22 Backpack uses more recycled materials. It's the perfect backpack for day hikes, mountain walks, and general outdoor adventures.
The main body is made of high-strength triple-ripstop nylon. This fabric is incredibly durable and abrasion-resistant, allowing it to survive regular use in rugged terrain. The base and lining of the Talon 22 are made of 420HD nylon canvas, which is incredibly durable.
All of these materials are 100% recycled and bluesign® approved. bluesign® certifications ensure that the materials used avoid harmful substances, benefit from reduced air and water emissions, increase resource productivity, and that the production line is more transparent and trustworthy.
All materials are also treated with a PFAS-free DWR (durable water repellent), which encourages light rain and snow to roll off the material instead of soaking through.
The Talon 22 features an Airscape back panel that utilizes an injection-molded AirScape frame with die-cut foam. This back panel hugs the body, provides stability, and is incredibly flexible for increased comfort and freedom of movement. It features ventilated airflow channels for active users to help prevent sweat build-up, and a mesh-covered foam hipbelt for lightweight comfort.
It also uses a BioStretch harness , which features integrated BioStretch seams that maximize flexibility without sacrificing stability for dynamic movement in technical terrain. The spacer mesh over die-cut foam on the harness and hip belt provides a breathable and comfortable contact surface that effectively manages temperature regulation.
The hip belt also features the Crossbody ErgoPull system, which helps pull the hip into the body for better weight distribution and helps prevent lower back pain or injuries. You can easily adjust the strap to fit your torso length, plus a sternum strap that helps keep the backpack stable.
The Talon 22 offers a variety of storage and organization options . The main compartment is spacious and accessible via a double-zippered panel. An internal zipped mesh pocket with a key clip is ideal for storing small valuables. There is also a top panel zipped flap pocket, a large front stretch mesh pocket, stretch mesh side pockets (ideal for water bottles), easy-access stretch mesh harness pockets and double-zippered hipbelt pockets that are perfect for snacks and energy gels.
If you’re adventuring during the winter, you might be pleased to know that there are retractable ice axe attachments with bungee ties; these attachments will securely store your ice axe while preventing it from puncturing your pack on the go. Stow-on-the-go trekking pole attachments provide storage for your walking poles when not in use. If you’re heading out on an adventure on two wheels, you’ll definitely want to consider the LidLock bike helmet attachment and the turn signal attachment.
