For the material 120 COOL TEC, Ortovox uses a combination of materials consisting of 52% merino wool, 33% TencelTM and 15% polyamide. The uniqueness of this material lies in the complex production process of the fibers themselves, the CORESPUN technology developed by the Südwolle Group ©. The highest quality merino wool and Tencel TM fibers are wrapped around a core of polyamide fibers. Using this technique, fibers are created that are very soft and smooth to the touch.
ORTOVOX uses only the highest quality Merino wool from Tasmania . Merino wool is a material that degrades only negligibly over time and retains its functional properties for many years. Merino wool comes only from selected farms that meet the strict ORTOVOX WOOL PROMISE (OWP) standards. ORTOVOX obtains new merino wool from certified sheep farms that adhere to ethical principles of animal treatment.
Only wool from Tasmanian sheep meets the demanding requirements of the ORTOVOX brand.
These farms are regularly monitored as part of the OWP. The wool itself is 100% ecological and therefore extremely environmentally sustainable. Merino wool provides perfect comfort and a feeling of softness thanks to the thin fibers that make up fine woolen yarns.
