The ORTOVOX AVABAG LITRIC Zero 27L backpack is designed for long ascents and beautiful descents: The AVABAG LiTRIC Tour range offers ski mountaineers a balanced balance between comfort on the ascent and support on the descent. A perimeter zipper for quick access to the main compartment and features such as ski, split-board and rope holders or an ice axe holder are within easy reach.
LiTric system:
The new LiTRIC system, created in collaboration between the two companies, uses an electric fan to inflate the airbag. The main motivation for the LiTRIC design process, as Ortovox Product Manager Patrick Wesch explains, was to further improve avalanche safety for backcountry skiers. This depends not only on good equipment, but also on the right education and training. Ortovox’s existing Avabag backpacks use a traditional pressure cartridge, which is one of the lightest options on the market. However, the product team felt that the electric blower option was advantageous because it allows for realistic training – i.e. the actual deployment of the airbag – without any associated costs. Inflating the airbag yourself is an experience that every skier should experience before they get into a real emergency situation. The main advantage is the possibility of multiple launches without having to change the cartridge.
