Madshus is a Norwegian company producing skis and ski equipment. It is based in Biri in Gjøvik (Oppland). It produces racing cross-country skis, skis for recreational sports, ski poles, ski boots, ski clothing.
The first Madshus skis were made by Martin Madshus in 1906 in his barn in Vardal near Gjøvik. The company moved in 1936 to Lillehammer and in 1972 to Biri. In 1998, the factory was bought by the American company K2 Sports Inc, but the skis are still made in Biri.
Although there were several ski manufacturers in Norway in the past, only two companies still exist today – Madshus and Åsnes. The company Madshus is currently the longest existing ski company in the world with more than a century of tradition.
